Wordless Wednesday #9

**Just a note: No we don't make her shovel the snow...she begs to help, so we got her a kids sized snow shovel. Unfortunately one day she will grow out of wanting to help!**

Friday Feast #10

Appetizer
If you could take lessons to learn any musical instrument, which would you want to learn?
Piano...I took lessons as a child, but I've forgotten most of it.

Soup
Have you ever mistaken a person for someone else?
I don't think so...not that I can remember anyway. When I was younger I used to get mistaken all of the time for Sigourney Weaver if that counts. I have no idea why and neither does anyone that knows me!

Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
I'd say an 8 or even a 9. I just don't like to keep secrets from my husband, so I will usually tell him.

Main Course
What's the closest you've ever been to a dangerous animal?
The zoo

Dessert
When was the last time you lost your patience?
Earlier today...pretty much daily unfortunately. Drivers just drive me crazy...especially if they are on their cell phone!!

Home today....

So, today I am home with a sick little girl. Not much to do, but surf the internet. Actually, it started out last Saturday when we thought she had a cold sore. Two right next to each other and it looked pretty bad. We started treating it with Campho Phenique, but it just was not getting any better. Then last night we noticed she had a rash like thing developing around her whole mouth and we decided we'd better take her to the doctor. We found out she had Impetigo(sp?). I'd heard of it, but I didn't really know what it was. It can be either a staph infection or a strep infection. Yikes! Anyway, not serious, just needs a round of antibiotics. Unfortunately she is contagious, so we can't send her to school. Of course, up until today she had been in school! I just hope no one else got it. I feel so bad. She's pretty miserable too. She looks pretty bad actually and it's really itchy. Poor thing...
Doesn't help that I've been really busy with year end stuff and can't be at work today. If I had known I was going to be home for the next two days I would have taken some work home. It's a really bad time, but that's the way it is with kids.
Cheers!

Busy, Busy, Busy......

I'd like you to think of me saying Busy, Busy, Busy like the magician in Frosty the Snowman when Santa tells him he has to write "I am very sorry for what I did to Frosty" a hundred zillion times." If you get that reference. That's how I feel lately. It's year end time and that means catching up on all the bookkeeping I didn't do all year. My own fault I guess...I just hate stuff like that. We have an appointment with our accountant next week and I am just so not ready. Of course, I will be by then because I do really well with deadlines...surprisingly. By the end of the day I have no energy to even think about blogging. I do still read everyone else's though when I need a break. There is just nothing going on in my life to talk about besides accounting and no one really wants to hear about that.
I do have one thing to tell. Actually this happened a while ago and I've been meaning to mention it, but I always forget. I think kids say the funniest thing sometimes. I just love that. My daughter is no exception.
One day I was sitting on the couch with her and she was on my lap. We were giggling about something that happened at school that day. I snuggled into her and told her how much I loved her and do you want to know what she said? She looked at me totally deadpan and said, "If you loved me so much you'd give me chocolate." Totally out of the blue! We weren't even talking about chocolate!
Ahhhhh....she may be adopted, but obviously she takes after me!
Cheers!

Friday Feast #8

Appetizer
What comes to mind when you see the color orange?
That I want to eat an orange

Soup
Did you ever get in trouble while you were in school? If so, what was it for?
I was pretty boring...a total bookworm, but I did get in trouble a lot for talking too much!

Salad
Which topping(s) make up your perfect pizza?
I eat it so seldom because the way I like it is not good for you...usually meat toppings. I love pepperoni, sausage etc.

Main Course
Do you believe in UFOs/aliens/etc.? Why or why not?
Yes and no. I don't believe in little green men, but I think it's silly to think we are the only living things in the entire universe. If there are why do we always assume they would mean us harm?

Dessert
What color is your bedspread/comforter/quilt?
Burgundy velvet...I just love it!

Thursday Thirteen #19

Thirteen things I collect or have collected

1. Stamps - Well, I don't really anymore. They just sit in a closet. Some of them are so beautiful though that I have often thought of framing them.
2. Napkins - Not just any old napkin, but printed paper napkins. I loved doing this as a child, but I still collect them when I see a really pretty one.
3. Boxes - Decorative boxes basically.
4. Nancy Drew Books - I have the whole original set, but I'm trying to replace the newer ones with older editions.
5. Stationary - Not on purpose, I just have a real weakness for it. It's not like I even write a lot of letters!
6. Yarn - Another one that is not on purpose. I LOVE to crochet, so I am constantly buying yarn for "future" projects. I have a real weakness for that too!
7. Postcards - I love when people send me postcards from their vacations. I get to take a little mini trip when I get one.
8. Flamingos - Anything with a flamingo on it. It started out as a joke in college because I thought they were so tacky, now I love them for their tackiness.
9. Dolphins - Just kuz I love them.
10. Earrings - I just buy and buy them. I am so addicted to them.
11. Ribbons - I really don't know why. I really like ribbon I guess.
12. Wrapping supplies in general - I love to wrap gifts and I hoard all the cool paper, ribbons, bows, tissue and boxes I can find. My dream is to have a wrapping room.
13. Dirt - I know this sounds weird. This is from my childhood. I don't collect it anymore. As a child I felt sorry for dirt because everyone hated it so much that I decided to collect it in little baggies and write down where it came from. No one ever said I was normal.

Yup....more snow

********Please scroll down for Friday Feast********

Okay now I'm really getting tired of this. Can Mother Nature PLEASE just let the snow from the past two storms melt before we get slammed with another one?!?!?!?
This leads me to a funny story. Well, it'll be funny in a year or two...not so funny now actually.
I am a huge snow lover. I love winter and everything that goes along with it. My husband...not so much. He hates shoveling and now that we own this building the parking lot has to be cleared and he hates the idea of paying someone to do something he *thinks* he can do himself. Ha!
Well, about a month ago he comes walking into my office at the store with a big grin on his face. We had just had a small snow storm a week earlier and he was just so happy to declare that there would be no more snow for the winter until early spring. He had just read an article in the newspaper that stated there would likely be no more snow for Colorado for the rest of the winter because of the Arrival of El Nino. Yeah...right. I was devastated at the time. I always hope for a white Christmas. I just did not want another warm winter! Well, unfortunately for all of us the forecasters were very wrong. I NEVER asked for this much though so don't blame me. I get enough dirty looks from my husband while I'm watching him outside using the snow blower. We are on our 4Th snow storm in a month with two of them being really bad and this one looking like it will get there as well.
Can I just hunt down these forecasters that always think they are so smart and just slap them around for awhile? Is that too much to ask?
Apparently we moved to Alaska and no one told us.
Cheers!
