répondez s'il vous plaît (RSVP)

My daughter is turning five on the 27th, so we decided to have a little party for her on Saturday instead of the big monster parties we have had the last 2 years. She wanted a bowling party with about 12 of her friends. I made the reservations and was told I needed to supply a head count on the Thursday before. I sent out really cute little invitations that stated all of this on the 6th to give people plenty of time. It's the beginning of Spring Break, so we expected some not to be able to make it. And I waited...and waited. We heard from her best friend's Mom, but no one else. Normally I send out invitations via evite.com, but I wanted to do these cute little pink purse shaped invites that I had found. Evite is great because you can see who has looked at the invitation, who's responded and they get reminders. I tend to be a little anal about RSVPs. I always respond as soon as possible to invites. When you are planning a party you just have to know how many people are coming. As of yesterday I was starting to get nervous. Hubby thought that since I had forgotten to state "no gifts please" on the invite that I could use that as an excuse to send out the invitation again via evite.com just as a reminder. Finally people started responding. I can see who has looked at it and not responded yet, which is frustrating! Why do people seem to ignore the RSVP? Every time we have a party I deal with this crap. Why is it so hard to let people know if you're coming or not? I always supply a phone number and an email address, so there really is no excuse. I still have not heard from quite a few of the parents and I have to give a head count on Thursday. I know from past experience that people just show up the day of the party, but frankly that's just plain rude. I have no idea what I'm going to say to the lady when I call her.
Well anyway....sorry, just needed to vent on a PMS-y kind of day!
Cheers!

My Visual DNA

I found this over at Island Girl's blog and thought I'd give it a try. It's pretty cool actually.

Friday Feast #15

Appetizer
Name two things that made you smile this week.
Seeing my daughter when we got back from our trip.
Every day when I pick up my daughter from preschool.

Soup
Fill in the blank: Don't you hate it when people whistle in public to no particular tune?

Salad
When you can't go to sleep, what is your personal remedy to help yourself drift into Lullabyland?
Count backwards from 500. Unfortunately I have to use this a lot.

Main Course
What is something about which you've always wondered but have not yet found a good answer?
I can't think of anything at the moment...I'll have to think about that and get back to it.

Dessert
What is your favorite pasta dish?
ANY KIND!! I can't just pick one. I love it all unfortunately.

Thursday Thirteen #23

Though this list may make me sound like a lush I am not a big drinker. I just like a drink now and then when we go out and I don't like to drink the same thing all of the time. I'm always up for trying a new drink especially if it's fruity! The more it tastes like liquor the less likely I am to like it. If it has an umbrella in it I'll be happy!

My Thirteen Favorite Drinks

1. Malibu Twister
2. Singapore Sling
3. Sangria
4. Margarita
5. Dirty Martini w/lots of olives!
6. Screwdriver or Harvey Wallbanger - taste very similar to me
7. Orgasm - they are so yummy but who can order this without giggling like a 12 yr. old?
8. Manhattan Sweet
9. Bahama Mama
10. Caribbean Breezer
11. Rum Runner
12. Pina Colada
13. Caucasian/White Russian

Kinda Wordless Wednesday #10

Alas just a wax figure at Madame Tussaud's, but I was just so amazed at how realistic he looked. Actually quite a creepy place.

Vegas stuff

Vegas was super fun. Of course we didn't do all of the things we wanted to do, but we still did a lot. We ate at some great restaurants. I ate way too much actually. I've decided that eating is one of the main things you do in Vegas besides gamble. You're either eating, waiting to eat or looking for a place to eat.
We stayed at The Mirage which was really nice.

I did all of my gambling there and I gambled a lot. In the end though I only lost $24.90, so not too bad. I had a lot of fun which was the main thing. For my birthday we went to the Star Trek Experience which was really neat. I'm not really a fan, but I do like Sci-Fi stuff. It was just great, though quite expensive. We had a yummy Italian dinner at Onda and then did the Vegas Strip. Hubby gave me the neatest gift. He knows how much I love black, so what did he buy me? 2 carat black diamond and white gold earrings! They are so gorgeous! Yay! I had no idea there was such a thing. Apparently they are quite rare. He knows me so well...what a sweetie.
I was really excited to go to the Luxor where they are taping the new season of "Mindfreak". I even got a pic of me in front of the production office.

Unfortunately he wasn't there, but I did see some of the regulars from the show including his brother.
Friday night we saw Ray Romano, who was fantastic! I was so hoarse afterwards from all of the laughing. The next morning we were standing in line at the buffet and talking about what he would be doing for breakfast. We both agreed that he would order room service. We were just finishing our conversation and guess who comes up behind us? Ray Romano and family! We ended up sitting a couple of tables away from him. He grazed the huge buffet with the rest of us and was very nice and normal. He put up with a lot of people bugging him for pics and autographs. We didn't bother him because it's rude to bug people while they are eating. He took it all in stride though.
We also visited the Dolphin Habitat and Secret Garden at The Mirage. I loved that you could get so close to the Dolphins. It's a research center so they don't do scheduled shows, but the Dolphins love to do tricks and get lovins.

All in all it was a really fun trip, but we missed our little girl and were happy to get home.
Cheers!

Back to the grind...

I'm back from Vegas and my birthday weekend. I am so exhausted! I don't think I have ever walked so much in my life. We walked everywhere, which was great, but got to be very tiring. Things are very spread out in Vegas...much more than I remembered. Anyway, I will write an update tomorrow with maybe a pic or two when I have rested up.
Cheers!

Wonderful World of Vegas!

I'm off tomorrow morning for my big birthday trip! Yay! Of course that means I turn 4-0 on Thursday. Can I just have the trip without the birthday? No? Oh well...worth the ask anyway.
I will not be posting while I'm gone, but it'll only be for a few days. I'll be back on Sunday with pictures and stories ready to blog. Have a great week everyone!

Wish me luck! Those nickle slots can be a bitch!
Cheers!

Two days and counting

Alright...I have two days left to be in my 30s. What should I do? I feel like I should do something so that one day I can say, "Oh...I did that when I was still in my thirties." That may sound stupid, but 4-0 is such a big landmark that I feel like I should do something out of the ordinary. Something I've never done before. Unfortunately it seems I've done everything worth doing...at least in my mind anyway. Obviously I will be doing fun things for my birthday, but I mean something other then a celebration type thing. Once you turn 40 that's it. You can't say you were too young to know better. You are officially an adult. There is no arguing with that. Unless...you go with the notion that 40 is the new 20. Technically then, I'm still a kid. Right?! Of course if 40 is the new 20, then 20 is the new what? So, if you are 20 years old you apparently don't exist. That would mean that little girl running around my house isn't really there and I'm actually insane. So...not only am I turning 20(40), but I've gone round the bend as well. Humph...
Cheers!

The Wiggles!

After much anticipation we finally went to see The Wiggles in concert yesterday. My daughter has wanted to see them for so long now. Last time we had the chance to see them we thought she was still too young. She's not as into them as she used to be, but she still really wanted to see them in concert.

I must admit though, they put on an incredible show. Hubby and I know every song by heart and when I looked around during the show I found we were not the only parents clapping and happily singing along! They are very catchy tunes and arranged in more of an adult style. That's why we always liked them. So many kid's shows have very babyish music, but these guys are fun. Do I sound like a fan? If you have a little one then you are usually forced to watch them a lot, but of all the kiddie shows out there this one is the most fun. Anyway, the most important part was that our daughter had a blast. She danced during the entire show and collapsed as soon as we got home. Can't go wrong with that!
Cheers!

Friday Feast #14

Appetizer
What does the color pink make you think of?
Cotton Candy, which I don't like.

Soup
Name something you thought you had lost, but later found.
My ring that I got for my confirmation from my parents. It was very expensive and I never told them that it was missing for 8 years. I ended up finding it in a packing box. Not sure how it got there, but I was thrilled.

Salad
In 3 words, describe this past week.
Busy, busy, busy

Main Course
What are you obsessed with?
Right now it's magic. I am so fascinated by figuring out how they do those illusions. Especially Criss Angel of "Mindfreak" on A&E.

Dessert
What kind of perfume or cologne do you like to wear?
I don't...it makes me sneeze and I really don't like the smell.
